trying to help older freind get this one going...repaired wiring inside cover, soldered all connections...but geting no spark at plugs or off coil wire when cranking with screwdriver installed into spark plug socket..did no work to 2 black wires coming from up by flywheel, figured thses just for charging??where to start with my dvm for problem??took wires off 1 at a time to avoid crossing things up when repaired old cracked wires...have 12 volts of left side of upper pack on 1 terminal only...have not checked under distributor cap, but never seen many old mercs go bad there...has been sitting outside with covers on for 2 1/2 years...thanks for info in advance, been awhile since i have been here....mark |

The pack need 12 volts on two terminals. Red and white. White goes to the key. The distributor sensor does go bad sometimes. The pack almost never went bad unless the battery connections got crossed and blew it. |
