I have a mercury 115 hp 2 stroke outboard 2003 model there was a burning smell while engine was running engine stopped --no spark.iam told the cd module -stator-& wiring loom must be replaced. What would cause this & is it a very common problem |

Noel, you shouldn't replace anything before testing, however, it would not be uncommon for a component to fail and have it cook your stator in the process.
Time to either grab a manual and a multi-meter or get it into a dealer and figure out which components have gone on you.... |
