i have a 75 hp merc and the serial number is 0A995770 i cant find what year it is can someone help me thanks |

Justin, I believe you have a 1985 model there (4 cylinder). Just prior to the 1986 model year Merc added the "letter" to their serial numbers.
The 0Axxxxxx was meant for the new 86 models, but since it was in place alot of late 85 models got the new serials to replace the previous with all digits. However, not alot of them show up in the normal listings and the numbers appear to be out of whack.
Anytime you see an 0A9xxxxxx that's a good indication of a late 85 model. They started numbering backwards knowing that in 86 when they started at 0A1xxxxx they would never get up to 0A9xxxxx before they moved on to the 0Bxx's....
0A6's were Aussie built, 0A7's were Canadian and 0A8's were Belgian (if I'm remembering correctly)... |
