The serial # for my 2HP Mariner outboard engine is 124795. There is also a "code" on the serial plate that reads 6A1. What year and model is it and which repair manual/SELOC interface should I get? |

That is a 1988, Yamaha built Mariner. You want Seloc's "Mariner Outboard Tune-up and Repair Manual 1977-89" for 1 and 2 cylinder models.... |

Will a 1987 mercury lower unit work with a 1987 mariner upper unit? Were there differences between the yamaha version and mercury versions in Mariner models? |

An 87 Merc lower will work with an 87 Merc built Mariner - but the Yamaha Mariners were different and not likely to mate up properly... If both motors have serials starting 0AXXXXX or 0BXXXXX then you are in luck - if the Mariners serial starts with a 695-xxxxx then it's a no-go... |
