I currently own an Evinrude 8hp two stroke that is 15 years young and has given me great service over this time. Just recently however, I was on my way to one of many productive fishing holes at about 3/4 throttle when I the motor started to decelerate and then just shut off. I could bring it back to life but, only when I choked it of which I should not have to do once the motor is warm. The problem has no consistency to it. I can run for an hour and nothing but good performance will occur. I have changed out the fuel in my tank, cleaned the filter. I have heard some bad things about ethanol. The engine also cannot idle without cutting out after it is warm. Perhaps I need to get the carb overhauled. Anybody out there been down this road before? |

Sure. Check the previous post. Also the fuel pump should be carefully checked out for delivery. Pump rebuild kits are only about $15 for that motor. |

You need to clean and kit the carby as tim says do the fuel pump as well the kits are cheap |

My old Lawnboy mower acted similarly. I could cut the grass heading on an incline to the east, and it would run fine. Going west, it would run rough and cut out. Every time. After I poured the water out of the bowl of the carburetor, it took care of the issue! |
