i have a 1990 115 johnson on a 17' pro craft alluminum bass boat that is no good. i have a 1994 115 johnson to replace it with is this something i can do myself or is it best to take it somewhere i am a little mechanicaly inclined |

You should be able to pull it off on your own just make sure: 1- transom mount holes match (or patch old holes and make new ones) 2- throttle and shift cables attach the same way 3- you can use the old controller with the replacement engine. If cables do not match. Get new controller/ignition/harness to go with your replacement ouboard. That's the basics. Not too difficult. |

No need to change controller if harness contacts on 'new' engine is different from the 'old.(big red plug VS Detz contacts) Just by a conversion harness. |

whats wrong with the old one?there are a lot of parts i would strip off it and keep for spares... |
