I have a 1978 55hp johnson two cycle I have a 55hp 1976 evnrude two cycle motor, my question is are both motore enter changable mainly in the power head.

The cylinder and crankcase assembly parts numbers are different so they are not the same.
Some parts may well be interchangeable though. See the parts catalog at shop2.evinrude.comand compare the numbers of the parts you are interested in |

The 78mdl will bolt onto your 76 trunk housing as they both use the same gaskets |
