Only the temp switches closing put the motor into SLOW mode, the VRO and fuel restriction alarms do not.

Use a temp gun to determine if either cylinder head is overheating and if not, disconnect one temp switch at a time to determine if one is acting up.

A faulty ignition pack, shorted tan wire, or a shorted diode inside the engine wiring harness can also cause the motor to go into slow.
