while operating at around 4500 rpm engine will start slowing down and running rough at 2600 rpm,
go back out again and engine will great for awhile and then do the same thing, also alarm will go at slow speed and have checked and water pump is putting a nice stream on stern of engine, will shut the engine for a few secounds and restart and alarm will stop, have replaced spark plugs, fuel filter and checked spark gap and shows about 1/2 " spark, if anyone has had this problem please let me know what to do or any help will appericated

I had this same problem with a 70 HP evinrude. Tried several things change plugs clean carbs etc. The problem was a bad heat sensor that told the power pack or some computer module the engine was running hot so it cut back to save engine as it is designed to do if the engine runs hot. Never had another problem after changing sensor.
