I have some surface damage to a couple of cylinder walls in 1980 70Hp Johnson. What would I use to polish out the damage? What would be best to polish out damage on piston sidewalls as well? Thx, Dave

Damaged pistons: REPLACE!
If cylinders are damaged in a way you may 'feel' it, re-bore to oversize.
In your case I think re-bore to oversize with new pistons seems to be solution.

If this were an old car you could get away with some polishing on the pistons, but the bores need to seal on the rings perfectly. This ain't a car though, and your life might depend on this baby pulling hard at a critical time (like going over a bar or the onset of a storm for example). Listen to Morten on this one. Not worth the risk.
