Hi all. This is my first of many posts. I have just purchased a used aluminum boat that came with an evinrude on it. It has no stickers but looks like it is from the 60's and about a 9hp. The only number I could find on it was 301 924 under where it mounts to the boat. can anyone help me identify what the molde and hp would be? Thanks |

Look on the cylinder for a nickel sized plug. That should have the model & serial on it. Evinrude puts their info tag on the transom bracket. |

I've attached a few pics to help identify this motor. I looked for the nickel sized plug but am unsure where to look. this is my first boat and motor. |

Ok I've got some more information now. I could not find a number on the shaft for the prop. But the number on the prop was 311484. On the side of the motor with the screws to remove the cover there was a number in the side of the cylindar on a plate 203253. Now there were 2 of these numbered 1 and 2. also the motor has Champion plugs j6 j. does this help? |

Steve Take the motor cover all the way off. on the starboard side of the cylinders you should find the welch plug with the info. If you cant find it, try the Antique Outboard Motor Collectors website. look for the "Ask A Member" column. http://www.aomci.org/index.htm Steve A W |
