i have 2 motors a jhonson 1959 35 hp model 1880585 tha is good except for the lower unit and an Evinrude 1976 40 hp model J40654A that got submurged in fresh water and was not tended to for I dont know how long. Are any of the internal engine parts from the 1959 35hp jhonson useable in the 1976 40hp Evinrude? Like the bearings, crank, & rods / rist pins? |

every part is diff bearings were not used on(roller) wrist pins/crank.that rules them out,carb/fuel intake is totalally diff.lower unit drive shaft spline/gears prop etc etc etc, sell the dino /buy the parts for the 40 ,pull the haeds on it see how it looks, part it try and make a few bucks |

Charles, First let me say thanks for the long story. The 40 is totaly torn apart and it makes me sick someone didn't give it some TLC rite after it got drounded or it would still be maken power. It was hardly used, you can tell, and it don't look too bad inside except for the rod and crank bearings, maybe the wrist pins they have't been removed, but stiff. The cylinders and crank have very minor pits I just don't know what is tollerable, I've only worked on 4 stroke car engines. |
