i just bought what i was told was a 15hp evinrude. it has the tiller style handle of a 91 or newer evinrude. the model # and serial # were painted over. so i scraped the paint off along with the numbers. great. is there any other way to find out what year and hp the motor is? the freeze plug reads g3179309?? anyting?? other numbers on inside motor are 322404 p/n for ex- cover, outer. 323657- p/n for shift lever, and 336637- p/n for cover bypass. can we figure out what year and hp from any of this? or where is ther model number at that im not seeing??? thanks a lot, Mike |

Part number 322404 fits 1978 thru 1992, 323657 fits 1979 thru 1992 ... but 336637 fits 1993 thru 2001. With your comment about the tiller, I'd say it's either a 91 or 92 ... but that's just a guess. The only other option is to see if a Johnson dealer can give you the year from the serial number off the freeze plug. |
