I need to convert the old style pressure tank to the modern kind. Space dictates the need.
I just need to know where to connect the pluse line at the engine. The rest is not a problem. Just where the hose goes, in the simplist of terms please....Thanks in advance!!!.

Those two nipple should be marked "fuel" and "air" or "in" and "out" (I forget which). Connect to "fuel" or "out".

Lets put this another way, in order to operate the fuel pump, I need the pulse source from the engine to operate the pump. Where does that hose connect to the engine to operate the fuel pump or can I use the current pressure line? I did this on an ultralight airplane I built a few yrs back but darned If my feeble brain can recall how I did it.

Sorry, I apparently misread your question. What engine are you speaking of (make, year, hp)?

been looking for a post that explained the conversion from a old pressure fuel tank to a new type tank. I saw it once a while ago but didnt think I was going to need to that, but times change, Im working on a 58 18hp johnson. If you remember where that post is or know where the vacuum source comes from to power a new mikuni fuel pump please let me know......

The 18hp was later produced with a factory fitted FP. Therefore, the easiest way is to to find a used transfer port cover that will provide a location to hook up a FP to. If the transfer port cover wants an OMC FP directly mounted, you may need to modify it to accept a nipple. My motor is a 10hp so the factory FP mounts to the transfer port cover, your 18 could be a remote mount - which would be preferable to install a Minkuni.

If this route is not feasable for you, then you can pull the intake manifold, remove the diaphram check valves etc and hook your vacuum pulse line to the intake manifold port that the air portion fo the 2-line fuel line was hooked to (under and behind carb on my 10hp). This was the way my motor was done before I bought it.

Check the link below for a wealth of info on the subject. I am reading his book right now "Cheap Power"- I would highly recommend it for owners of motors like yours!

Joe - Thanks for the visual support to my long-winded (hopefully factually correct) reply!

jw - great link, it shows many of the different ways to "skin the cat". Too bad iboats is too slow to load for me lately.

Alan, goto jw's link and look at reply #15, that could be the easiest way to install a Minkuni. Good Luck!
