I have a 91 Johnson 70 horse. Bought a new tach, cable, and trim gauge. Installed same. After testing trim guage thought I would pull the cable from the control unit and give the connectors a shot of Corrosion X before I permanently reinstalled it. OOPs, the pin on the cable for the gray wire now has the connector out of the control unit on it . Went to my local Johnson/Evinrude dealer today and they had a couple of the pins. My question is... do I push the wire out through the rubber plug, crimp on the connector, and then push the connector into the rubber plug from the outside? Or do I crimp the connector onto the gray wire and then push it into the rubber plug from inside the control box? Thanks Alan |

Hi Alan, i thought someone else might chime in, and you may have already done this, the few times I've played with the pins(usually for diagnosing a coil or Pack, I remove the wire from the back of the connector, the wire is too thick for the front. and a company makes a little 3 peice tool kit to do it.. Ok ? |
