My 71 Johnson 100hp had a bunch of fishing line wrapped around the prop shaft which I believe has caused the lube to leak through. I have ordered a lower unit seal kit and have begun to disassemble the lower unit. Here is where I need help. Does anyone have any diagrams of this lower unit you could send me? Also how do I get the prop shaft housing to come out? I have removed the 4 bolts holding it to the main lower unit housing but how does it come out? Can I replace all the seals and rings myself with general tools? Please help
Thanks so much
Dave

you will need a steering wheel typ puller, some long threaded rods ,maybe a good tap&die kit.
you should be able to do it your self may take a while but you should catch on,here is a blow up of your unit

Thanks Charles, can I pull out the #28 BRG HOUSING first or do I need to pull the drive shaft before that? When #36 PINION GEAR is meshed with #40 GEAR won't that prevent the @28 from moving out? A summary of the steps required to replace the seals would be extremely helpful. Sorry I am too cheap to buy a manual right now. These temp layoffs are a killer.
