having some problems with my 1995 evinrude 48 special. I'm not sure if it is putting out enough voltage to charge the battery properly. What voltage should I expect at idle and at a higher rpm like 4000?

I know this thing doesn't have an alternator, but what does the charging on this motor?

Thanks!

simple---w/eng OFF,ck batt voltage, start, and run to 1000 rpm and see if voltage rises...if so..shes charging..

13.5v to 15.5v should be around normal but might be as low as 12.3v these are not from the service manual just normal readings for 12 volt charging systems
