Just put seal kit in my 1987 48hp evinrude lower unit, when i was putting seals in rear bearing housing i noticed seals were close to the needle roller bearing, looked like the bearing was not seated so i tapped it on down to the bottom where it looked like a seat, know i`m second quessing myself, can you seat the bearing down to far and off the race? any advice anyone? |

my guess,is it was correct,to begin with...those bearings,are pressed,to a certain depth...i would try to put it back where it was,and ,u may end up ordering a new one,due to hitting it,back,and forth....it must,roll very freely.. |

jwbmarine, you hit the nail on the head, pulled the bearing housing and the bearing was to far in and it was damaged, can` tap on the back of the bearing, put a new bearing in and i hope i`m good to go, thanks |
