Just put seal kit in my 1987 48hp evinrude lower unit, when i was putting seals in rear bearing housing i noticed seals were close to the needle roller bearing, looked like the bearing was not seated so i tapped it on down to the bottom where it looked like a seat, know i`m second quessing myself, can you seat the bearing down to far and off the race? any advice anyone?

my guess,is it was correct,to begin with...those bearings, are pressed,to a certain depth...i would try to put it back where it was,and ,u may end up ordering a new one,due to hitting it,back, and forth....it must, roll very freely..

jwbmarine, you hit the nail on the head, pulled the bearing housing and the bearing was to far in and it was damaged, can` tap on the back of the bearing, put a new bearing in and i hope i`m good to go, thanks
