I was fishing this weekend, and the ignition was off, and suddenly smoke started coming out of the cowling. I cut all electrical power off, and the smoke dissipated. I let it cool, pulled the cowling and smelled electrical short. I waited an hour turned main power back on, and it started smoking again. I waited another hour started engine, and quick ride 3 minutes back to dock. Only thing not working was tachometer. What happened and what di I need to replace ? |

My guess? You have burned out the regulator on top of the engine, behind the fly wheel. |

Will I have to pull the fly wheel ? One source says yes, one says no. If I do, is that a diificult task ? Will I need any special tools ? |
