I am a new owner of a 1.5 HP Mate, 1969 model 1902C. Just ordered a manual, but want to try out today. Lower end lubrication spec.s before I start e'r up..

Good idea to change the gear lube, check it for water at the very least.
Be prepared to renew the water pump impeller unless you know it has been done recently.

Clean/check plug (J6C, 0.030")

Clean out fuel tank (clean filter if there is one, not sure)& make fresh fuel mix 50:1.(TCW3 oil)

Be prepared to clean carb. Instructions for setting the high and low speed needles HERE

Use what is called HiVis 80/90w gearcase oil. Available at any dealership, marine type stores, Wal*Mart, K-Mart, etc.
