I have a 2000 70hp johnson that i need some help with. At first it will run good for about 2 min that is full throttle about 5000 rpm and then it will kick down to about 1700 rpm and will go no higher. I have replaced the powerpack but it did not help. It is not giving me any alarms and does not seem to be running hot. I have also replaced the spark plugs. If anyone can help let me know THANKS |

If you shut the key off, then restart the engine, do you then have the high rpms again for a short time? |

Is the rpm reduction only under load, or is it even un-loaded? (does it rev up in neutral?) Which spark plugs are You using? |

it kicks down under a load. when in neutral you can hear that the motor does not sound just right. I replaced plugs with the stock plugs that omc calls for. |
