They definitely are easier to remove than replace. If I take the 4 bolts out of the lower pan and 4 bolts out of Mid-section does this create a big problem (lower unit falls off)and does it give much better access? Does the inside gasket DRL go between the thermostat flange and the "ADAPTOR" ? I got RTV sealant all over valves, therms and gaskets. What can I use to clean them up ? Acetone ? Alcohol ? The valves are supposed to move freely but how do you keep them in place while fighting those springs ? When using the "cable ties" method of holding everything in place while you torque the bolts, are you supposed to ENCOMPASS from the thermostat COVER to the ADAPTOR plate ? This would make sense. thanks |

first there are two holes located in the rear of the engine cowling ,you should be able to get a long socket thru, then get a wrench on the other two. the gasket goes to the powerhead/plastic adapter. just use enough sealer to make a sure fit,rtv is not recommended. clean it all off and make sure you did not block any holes/there is a bleeder hole in there if it is blocked you can run into an overheat prob at wot or sooner. fighting those springs is a pain in the ass. just stay calm /keep your fingers out of the goo get a few bolts started till it all stays together. never herd of the cable tie method. |

Maybe I meant twist ties or rubber bands. So do I put the therms into the valve body and then seal the gasket over the therm flanges. That would be good, less moving parts. That's what the schematic looks like. Loosening the lower engine pan won't give me a couple of inches ? What should I use to clean off the RTV ? thanks |
