Will not go into fwr/rev. Adjusted cable at engine and it would go in gear then, and worked fine,But now it won't. I can shift it by hand and it will go in gear, but not with the controls I am thinking clutch dog worn out.

Are You using an original OMC control box?
If not, it might be the shift travel that is not enough. Some boxes have multiple positions to attach the cables giving different length of travel.
How big is the cable slack? Worn out cables may create this problem as well.
