Will not go into fwr/rev. Adjusted cable at engine and it would go in gear then, and worked fine,But now it won't. I can shift it by hand and it will go in gear,but not with the controls I am thinking clutch dog worn out. |

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ABOUT A YEAR AGO, WHERE THE SHIFT ROD ENTERS THE LOWER UNIT HAD FROZEN UP, TOOK APART SANDED THE ROD WHERE IT ENTERED THE L/U APPLIED A LITTLE GREASE, PROBLEM FIXED, NOT SAYING IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM, YOU MIGHT JUST WANNA CHECK IT OUT, AND IF ITS BEEN A WHILE SENCE THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED, GOOD TIME TO DO SO...HOPE IT WORKS OUT UNTIL SOMEONE WITH GREATER THOUGHT CAN HELP YA...GOOD LUCK |

Thank you dennis: I replaced water pump and checked the movement of the shfter rod and it wasn't stuck. This one has got me scratching my head! looking toward shift controls. ANYONE WITH ANY IDEAS????? |

Are You using an original OMC control box? If not, it might be the shift travel that is not enough. Some boxes have multiple positions to attach the cables giving different length of travel. How big is the cable slack? Worn out cables may create this problem as well. |

Morten thank you for your help. I tried to get the cable changed,but the customer thinks it is something else and is caring it to the dealer.Good luck on cost! Thank You Again Tim |
