I`m rebuilding lower unit on a 48hp evinrude, service manual says to use sealant on orings and gaskets, anyone any suggestions on what this sealant is? or do you even need it?

"O" rings work good on their own if given the chance to settle. I've just greased them up and assembled with out any leaks. If you get the wrong sealant, they will spin and glue them selves wrong. OMC has a "caramel colored" stuff that seems to work well as it is runny and thin. But grease works just as well and a bunch cheaper.

In agreement with William about grease on the O Rings. Always worked for me.
