hi, hope someone can help. fitted new impeller to water pump of 70hp engine that had sat for about 18 mnth. started very well but water slow to come to tell-tale and when does come it is intermittant at best it flows but seems to take a gulp every so often. removed legand flushed with hose very strong flow from tell-tale. engine in bucket with water up to water intake holes, just, could this be problem?

Yes the water pump needs to be under water to prime properly...Immerse the leg so there is at least 3 inches above the cav plate and try it again

thanks, you were correct. sorry about delay in response was heading away on holiday with boat so took chance and tried it when away, cooled perfectly but siezed gearbox on second last night! more work...
