Ive got 73 evinrude 65hp with a short shaft and i need a long shaft motor for my boat it currently has a merc 115 tower of power without the power has a bad piston rod or wrist pin or something bad like that broke so i want to put my 65 on but i need to know what other years are compatible on the lower units and if anyone has one? thanks

a friend gave me a starcraft with the tower of no power and he also gave me this evinrude and said there wasnt anything wrong with it it just had to short of a shaft for the boat and i would really like to get this boat on the water since i just put a new deck and everything in it and fixed it up

you will need the mide section also todo the change

is it the mid section that makes it longer could i get that and a longer shaft and put in to make it the 3 or 4 inches i need to reach the bottom of the boat

you need the mid and the lower unit also if you got a lower unit you have to change the drive shaft the drie shaft is sho

i have a good lower unit and mid section just its to short so i can get a longer mid section and a longer drive shaft and it would be fine what years and horsepowers are compatible with it

dont forget to change the water tubes or you will over heet because no water will get to the motor
