Greetings,
I have what I believe to be a 1963 Johnson 75HP engine (model v4S 15R). It has not been run in a while and won't idle so I took the carb apart to clean it. When I pulled what I thought were the high speed needles they appear to be cut off or just short plugs, is this normal for this engine? Also we ran the engine for a few minutes then transported the boat home with the engine tilted up, when I lowered the engine back down what appears to be gear lube ran out somewhere near the water intake onto the top of the propeller, is this just a seal in the lower unit?

The high speed jet are in behind those plugs, you need a screw driver with a 3/16" shank to get them out. The low speed jets have adjustable needles. |
