I recently sold this motor to a friend . I told him to change the lower end lube . There are 3 screws toward the end of the motor and he accidentally took the second one from the bottom out instead of the bottom one to drain it . The screw above the drain plug won't go back in because it's blocked now and it won't go back into nuetral . The screw has a shaft on it that must go into the motor and hold something , but it will not go back in it's blocked now . Any suggestions ? |

That screw is a pivot shaft for the internal shift lever. Sometimes one can use a pointed scribe and lift the internal lever into place, revealing the hole that the screw goes thru, OR turning the engine upside down may allow that lever to fall into place.
The alternative is to drop the skeg and start from scratch. Always best to have a manual to avoid expensive and/or upseting mistakes. |
