Hello All, I had fun working on my motor lower unit following Joe Reeves' instruction. I replaced water pump, replaced prop, exhaust seal gasket, etc... and put the lower unit back, attached E-shift cables. Everything works great. Now I am back for one question that's hard to find exact answer: -What other lower unit can be used to replace this model's lower unit? Mine is having a seal leakage. L/U oil is turning milk-shake after each trip out in the water and return. Moreover, the milk is coming out largely. I will try to reseal the whole L/U(prop shaft, drive shaft, etc...)next, but I need info in the case I come across an affordable L/U that can be used to replace mine. Thank you. Working on motor is even more fun than fishing! |

Hi Ikia, Do you mean 69 thru 72 V-4 are all Electric Shift? Or can I install a manual shift L/U on my ES? Thank you very much for your help. Q. |

Hello, I've tried to search for the post "69 thru 72 V-4" but can't find it anywhere. Please help me with more direct answer to whether can use any lower unit from 1969 to 1974 to replace my 1972 Johnson 100ESL72R. Thank you. |
