I have asked several dealers and the results are all the some. don't worry about it if it still is running fine.
question; why does oil run out of the exhoust vents after using the boat. motor starts easy, runs at all speeds wonderfully idols too.
gas ratio 50:1 medium blemd of gas
there is no oil leaks in foot gear section or water seal leaks for 90 weight oil.
this can' be good for the environment or water.
would love to solve this |

how long since new plugs...?
excessive idling will do this..
de-carb your engine,and monitor your oil mixing very well,..run at high speed,after prolonged idling(trolling etc) |

I have new plugs, new power pack, new gas tank, new tilt trip, new water pump and seals, and plugs. stumped because I run at all speeds but must idol when engtering the dock.
Oil seeps out of the wholes where the water pump sprays water when dry docked at home. looks terrible. never any water in foot area.could the motor not be burning the oil gas 50-1 ratio correctly? |

The main reason is that 2-stroke oil does not burn off completely, and at lower rpm a lot of unburnt fuel/air mix goes out with the exhaust. This will disolve a lot of carbon/soot from the exhaust tube which will look as 'leaking black oil' down on wherever it might get out from the leg. |

What you are describing is very normal for a 2 stroke engine.That is the way they are.You need to invest in a 4 stroke to help the environment.Wait now ---what happens to the oil that you have to change on a 4 stroke or when it is a little older and starts to leak or burn oil????? |

One thing you can try.....
Trim the motor up slightly before dry-docking. If trimmed all the way down, the carbs can leak a small amount of fuel into the engine. This will wash out the carbon from the engine/exhaust as Morten explains above.
When trimmed up so the powerhead is level or tilted slightly forward, any excess fuel will stay in the carb, or spill into the airbox where it can be burned when the engine is started. Additionally, anything that does wash down will pool in the lower unit and reduce the visual impact of dripping black crud. |
