Hi,
Was just reading the instructions on how to change the impeller on a Johnson 225 OceanRunner 1996 2 stroke and it says to use two different sealants and one grease.
1. Evinrude/johnson Adhesive M (sealant)
2. Evinrude/johnson Gasket Sealing Compound (sealant)
3. Evinrude/johnson Needle Bearing Assembly Grease
Does anyone know if there is any difference between the first two sealants - do I really need to purchase both? And can I use regular marine grease in place of the third?
Trying to get an idea if I need to purchase all these specialty items.
Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance. |

Eric, I used a bit of silicone caulk for #1, when I did the impeller replacement on my '98 Johnny 150HP V6. I used Permatex Hi-tack which we used to call Aviation gasket sealant, for #2. It had the brush in the cap. For #3 I used "Boat trailer wheel bearing grease", which is a salt water resistant general purpose grease. I now have 30PSI+ water pressure at WOT |
