I recently bought a boat with a 225 vindicator 93 model evinrude. It is on a 20 ft 3inch bass boat, and I am curious about a few things. What is the redline roughly on this engine? While test driving I ran it a little over 5000 rpm but did not know what redline is so I did not push it further. It was going between 55-60mph at 5k rpm. Second concern is the engine alarm horn. I do not hear the alarm when I turn the key on to start the engine to let me know it is working. Is it supposed to alarm when the key is first turned and where is the actual alarm located? The particular boat had sat for a while and there are quite a few dirt dauber nests everywhere you can imagine, so it could be plugged , or maybe just inop. Finally , is this a good engine to have , or would I be better off selling it and going with something else. I feel like I got the boat motor and trailer at below actual value, p;us the old gentleman included all his fishing tackle (prob 50 years worth). Any help / opinions are greatly appreciated
