Gents of the discussion board.
The old 140 has developed a fuel leak at the push fit joint between No.4 cylinder and the hose going to the electric choke (same diameter line as recirc hoses ??). Nothing major, it just left a small oily deposit on the transom when the engine was tilted up at the end of the day.
The choke fuel and recirc hoses were replaced with "similar" hose from a auto part store about a year or so ago, and its this hose which has cracked at no.4 cylinder and gone hard on the other connections suggesting it was not suitable as a fuel hose as advertised.
Does anyone have a Johnson part number for this small diameter hose. I can't find one on the BRP website or diagrams.

Hi JWB
Thanks for the info. This 140 has an electric primer - on closer inspection its identified on the solenoid cover with part no. 341071, which according to BRP website fits the 1/16th hose part number you've mentioned.
I've only had the engine for the last couple of years so quite probably it has been modified - I know the carbs are different to those listed.
Thanks again for the info.

Now I've always thought its a J140TL79R, however the bracket plate is badly scuffed over - a victim of over zealous sanding prior to painting I hope - and the only numbers I could make out in the past were J140TL.

However rubbing a bit of battery acid on the plate (after watching CSI actors make a ground off serial number re-appear on a gun using hydrocloric acid - who says TV isn't educational) I can now make out an I and an M, therefore possibly making it a 1981 J140TLCIM, which would fit in with the carbs and the electric primer.

Now I have to cancel the engines 30th birthday next year !!! ;-}

JWB and Co.
The 140 runs again without leaking fuel from the recirc or the primer pipes (another pipe found wanting in the fluid retention department as it literally fell off the nozzle when I touched it).

To be sure I don't have to do this again soon, I've replaced all the recirc and primer hoses and T pieces.

Thanks again for the part number of the hose.
