Yamaha speed and tach wiring- tried ALL of the diagrams

Desperately need someone to tell me what I’m doing wrong here. I’ve tried hooking up all of the wires exactly how this diagram shows to no avail. Would literally venmo someone who can help with this. For whatever reason, when hooking up the yellow coming from the gauges into the red from the harness, it’ll work just without lights. Otherwise, hooking it up as shows gives me nothing.

Red is never connected to yellow. Where in the diagram are you seeing that?
