What killed this outboard?

Hi, I was hoping to pick some of the very clever brains here as to what's going on with my mercury 90hp 2004 4 stroke.

It died 3 months ago after the oil turned into chocolate milk.

Please let me know if I should hold off throwing it in the bin.
Thanks guys!!

Paul

That might be a " Yamaha built " motor.----Very poor quality material.----Scrap in my opinion.----Have a couple of examples here , so I believe this is common.----Sad really !

The engine appears to have suffered from severe neglect, saltwater, never flushed, causing extensive internal corrosion and a block or gasket failure allowing water to enter into the engine and oil. Agree with Racer, that one is ready for the scrap pile.

But the ones I have are fresh water !----No salt water within 10 hr drive from me.----Bought a 2004 / 5 model 150 HP Yamaha last year for parts / repair.---Water getting into the oil.-----I hope it is not #3 with this issue for me.

Thanks all! Bought the boat second hand 2 years ago. Ran very well until it suddenly didn't. Probably the last time I buy a second hand outboard haha
