What can cause a switchbox to fail

Hi All,

Just wondering why some people get 40+ years out of a switchbox and others are nowhere last that long. Does anyone know what damages theses boxes seeing thet are so expensive.

Can a fault with a battery cause an issue?

The switch box does not use 12 volts to make spark.----A weak battery , bad starter / bad battery cables may mean that flywheel spins slow.----Then there is no spark generated by the system.
