water pump

I have a 1992 evinrude 120 v4 I put new water pump in it removed thermostates and blew through the motor with air and still cant get it to pump water

Is the motor getting hot ?-------Alarm going off ?---------Tell tale hose not showing water and plugged ?-------Worked OK before pump impeller was replaced?-----------Answers to these will get you somewhere.
