water in oil 1992 4.3 mercruiser

Did not winterize well enought, cracked manifolds both sides. Replaced manifolds and started engine, ran well for 6 minutes then had white milkshake come out of valve cover breather hose. dipstick says oil pan is full of white goo. Do I need to take the engine clear apart to clean everything up and look for cracked head etc? Is it best to pull the engine out of the boat or can the job be done with engine in place?
