Water in gearcase oil but gearcase holds pressure

Hi,

I found traces of water in my new gearcase oil, so I tested the pressure holding capability of the lower unit. No leaks whatsoever. Only if I shift gears, a bit of pressure escapes when the shiftrod moves. Is that the likely culprit?

Change o-ring on shift rod.----If motor has seen a lot of hours a complete seal kit is a good idea.----And a lot cheaper than gears , shafts and bearings.

Yes, it'll get new seals. I'll just have to order everything at once since shipping from the US to Germany is expensive. I'm trying to figure out which parts are broken, so that I don't end up with the need for new shaft seals and not having them ordered.
