I initially had a problem with a carb, which I replaced and also converted to electronic ignition.
Now it idles and runs up fine but pops back through the exhaust after about 5 minutes at cruise
I have already:
Set timing at 8deg btdc and confirmed firing order
Replaced wires and plugs
Checked compression (155-160)
Changed oil (added 1qt of marvel mystery)
What else can it be?

thanks - but i thought of that too and forgot to mention that i changed fuel filters and water separators. I also confirmed my tank valves both engines are drawing from the same tank and the port engine runs fine.

I would very much appreciate any other thoughts anyone has.

Pops back thru exhaust or carb?

If Carb, Maybe the float level in carb is too low, i.e. running out of fuel in carb.....

I'm having issues with my own engine after tinkering also.............!!

Thanks for your thought, definately through the exhaust. I read another post about a coil misfiring when it gets hot, so I'm thinking about swapping the distributor, ignition module, cap, rotor and coil with the port engine that is running fine tomorrow just to rule it all out.
