Transmission swap to newer engine

Hello... I'm a total newb. I have a general question. My mid seventies Lyman is equipped with a Chris Craft 350 sbc. Exhaust parts are harder to find and it leaks oil all over and I want to repower with a newer block. My question... Will my transmission bolt up to a newer - say mid nineties - OMC or Mercruiser 5.7 litre block?

as a rule, yes - but you may have to make minor accommodations depending upon what you are starting with...

The flywheel cover should switch over just fine...you may need to find a different damper plate...

not really...I'd suggest staying AWAY from the cheap chinese imports...
