So I was thinking I should have a close look at the timing on the motor seeing I replaced the trigger plate and stator only to discover a faulty switch box. I pulled it all to pieces not really understanding how the timing and the rotating trigger plate interacted with each other. The issue that I now find is the mounting of the plastic timing indicator is not really a fixed position, it has a lot of movement.
Just wondering what the detrimental effect can be if the timing is out and the motor is run at higher RPM. I actually haven't run this boat / motor in the water yet since it was pulled apart almost 2 years ago. At the moment it starts pretty much first key turn with the choke from cold.
