tilt tube inner diameter

One would think it would be easy to find the ID of a 1995 30hp tilt tube inner diameter. It seems to be 5/8" but need to be sure. Cant measure one cause motor will not be here until january. Any one know? Thanx.

I measure about .650" or close to 5/8" (.625") ID for a standard steering cable.

Ok, 16.5mm, a cable runs through it.

Okay..looks as though a 5/8 aluminum rod will have running clearance...I think thats the od of a teleflex cable end..

Im fabing up a pulley steer using the tilt tube with link to motor. Cable at each end of rod moves rod back and forth..

Too much slop in the teleflex system and too slow turn ratio for small motor for me...
