Throttle wiring

Short version: What's with all the wires going to my throttle ?

Long version: My old but new to me Sea Ray was repowered with a Volvo Penta 4.3 GL.

The wiring by Sea Ray in this boat was just OK to begin with, but 40 years of marine life has taken a toll. Add in numerous electrical "upgrades" by previous owners, many comical at best, some downright dangerous, and I HAVE to do something, "something" being a pretty major rewire.

This task begins with removing many (many) wires going nowhere, and identifying the remainder.

This post is about the throttle. Seven wires go to the throttle, five up top and two down below. Three of the top five are, I think, for the trim of the leg. I have no idea about the other two .. it ALMOST appears as if they go nowhere.

Two more wires are connected to .. something .. under the "dash", about 6 inches right below the throttle itself. A neutral switch was my first thought, but the wires don't seem to go anywhere either.

Any thoughts or assistance appreciated.
