testing the temperature buzzer/alarm

I've got an old 75hp chrysler outboard. I want to test the buzzer. The buzzer has got a black wire connected to the ignition and an orange wire connected to the motor. How can i test the buzzer if it is still working? SHould i remove the sensor attached to the motor and dip in hot water?

You should be able to check the buzzer by just connecting it upto a 9V battery.

As for checking the sensor i'm not too sure. Hot water will not work, boiling mite but i'm not sure what temperature it should be goin off at, may well be over 100C.

let me know how you get on, i should really check mine...

The sensor can be grounded out to make the buzzer sound.A piece of wire from the connector to and ground should make it sound.Key on of course.
Test it to see if it's good. You need to get it past 160` put it in hot water to warm it up. Then put it in boiling water and it should make the buzzer sound.J
