I have recently replaced the swithbox with a CDI 14-6222 and it worked well for 3 days and then the lower cylinder failed.
There is no voltage from Switch box to lower cal coil primary.
should I change to Sierra 18-5788 or other make

Probably not the switch box's issue.

You most likely have a bad stator that is frying the switchbox.

Replacing the switch box got it to work "temporarily" but now you have fried your new box (probably).

Have your stator tested before you throw away any more money.

Thank you Galamb excellent advice. i will check the stator output voltage and winding resistance

I have just checked resistance of stator coils (2 in series ) and they are OK. i tried to check voltage on a digital meter and it jumped up and down to about 16 v ac. On the dc scale it showed 4 to 5 volts negative on the wire to the switch box. Very odd.
these readings were with the motor on fast idle. Any ideas anyone .
