Swap Merc lower unit 9.8 to 9.9

I have a bent prop shaft on my Merc 9.9 LS (late 80s) and I can pick up a complete 9.8hp for $100
Will the 9.8 fit the 9.9?
I want to keep the 9.9 because it's electric start and a known good engine.
Looked high and low for this answer.

I see that.
The 9.8 is 150 miles away from me and I was not making that drive until I could know for sure.
I will have to buy the parts and fix it.
