Stiff throttle on new 4JH 110

I have a new 4JH 110 turbo fitted to my sailboat. The engine fires up immediately. Forward gear engages easily, but the throttle lever is so stiff that I worry it might snap off. Going astern is perfectly normal to engage and throttle up. Is this just a cable problem or something more involved ?

The first place is to check with the yard that did the installation...

Did they reuse the existing controls or go with new equipment...did they use the mechanical linkage or did you get the electronic control option?

Thanks for the speedy response. I will have to check e with the yard, but I do believe it is the mechanical linkage

many mechanical controls have friction screws that change the force required to move their lever....if that's the issue, the yard mechanics should be able to fix it very quickly...
