I have a Mariner 15hp, was brand new in April this year. Worked brilliantly and used a lot in June and July, was broken in all as it should be and all was good. Then on one trip, the painter rope fell out of the dinghy and it got caught around the prop. Since then, we have hardly used it as when it gets to half revs, it sounds like the prop is slipping, the engine revs higher but it loses power. We have replaced the prop but that has made no difference, indeed when we tried it with the new prop things seemed a little worse.
Have had 2 engineers look at it and no one can suggest anything, they have looked at the gear box and can see nothing wrong
Anyone idea or do I have a £2K write-off?
