RPM Gauge on Merc 150 V6 Carb motor not calibrated

I don't have 12P. See below.

I suspect you have a 6000 rpms dual purpose tach there that was not designed to work with your current outboard. Some 6000 rpms tachs do have the option for 12 poles (normally piggy backed with the 4C option) not in this case.

You need an outboard tach (7000 rpm) gauge - it may not have poles listed on the back the way this one does.

They often have 5 settings:

1 = 2 pole, 2 = 4 pole, 3 = 6 pole, 4 = 8 pole and 5 = 12 pole

I am from Seychelles and i need a Mercury RPM gauge that will work with a 1992 Merc 150 V6 2 stroke carb motor. My existing gauge is. Mercury RPM gauge and the pic above shows the settings on it.

You guys said it will work with all inboard and outboards, but why is it not accurate on mine? Do i need to use it with the adapter?
